A One in a Million Makeup Collab

MAC is known for its collaborative collections with icons like Patrick Starr, Brooke Shields, etc. but their latest collab is one in a million. The 12-piece collection honoring late R&B singer, Aaliyah, came heavily requested by fans in the form of a petition on change.org. Backed by Aaliyah’s brother, Rashad Haughton, it gained over 25 thousand signatures, and made its way to MAC.

The collection was released online on June 20, and was in stores on June 21. Included in the lineup are four lip glosses, four lipsticks, two lip liners, a bronzer, and an eyeshadow palette (nine colors).

Reminiscent of Aaliyah’s street but sweet persona, the collection features moody shades alongside saccharine peachy nudes in glossy burgundy packaging. Each of the lip shades are named after one of her songs and are inspired by her signature looks. And the cherry on top? Purchases come with a large poster of Aaliyah, rounding out this beautifully done tribute.

This peachy nude closely resembles the shade Aaliyah sports in the music video for hit song “Try Again,” sans the glossy top coat.

Inspired by her iconic song “More Than A Woman,” the striking burgundy paired with the slightest hint of shimmer embodies this bold declaration.

Named after her song “Street Thing,” this shimmery black lip embraces Aaliyah’s street but sweet vibe.

This fiery red is inspired by Aaliyah’s orangey-red lipstick and color theme in the music video “Hot Like Fire.”

Named after the "At Your Best (You Are Love)" single, this pairs beautifully as a metallic top coat for “More Than A Woman.”

A tribute to Detroit AKA “Motor City” where Aaliyah was raised

Though she was raised in Detroit, Aaliyah was born in Brooklyn.

Inspired by the metallic burgundy shade Aaliyah is wearing on the cover of her second album “1 In A Million.”

Pure black lip liner named after her song “Never No More,” pairs nicely with the “Street Thing” lipstick.

Bright red lip liner, could be paired nicely with ‘Hot Like…’

At the age of 15, Aaliyah dropped her first album “Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number.” The deep, cool tones in the palette pay homage to the moody 90s vibe of the album.

This orange toned bronzer is inspired by her nickname “Baby Girl,” complete with her signature etched into the top.
