Sunny Eyeshadows Lit Up the Jason Wu Runway Show

New York Fashion Week is in full swing with a veritable bevy of the most illustrious designers debuting gorgeous spring and summer lines. This past Sunday, Jason Wu showed a romantic, high-end collection of couture gowns, floral two-pieces, suits and the floaty jacket of every fashion fiend's dream. The collection was tied together by a sunny makeup look that had the audience wishing for next summer before this one is even over.

Wu’s models wore drugstore Maybelline makeup that is significantly more affordable than anything in his new collection. They walked the runway decorated in neon eyeshadow paired with simple matte foundation, creating a radiant look that glowed from the catwalk.

Makeup artist Diane Kendal created this vibrant look by using the Maybelline Lemonade Craze Eyeshadow Palette to produce a sunrise effect. She defined the eyes with Lash Sensational Mascara and created a bushy, natural eyebrow by combining the Brow Ultra Slim Defining Pencil with the Brow Fast Sculpt Gel Mascara, the latter of which will be available in January 2020.

Kendal applied Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hour Shadow in shade Chill Girl to the inner corners of the eye and on the bridge of the nose to add brightness and glow to the look. She also mixed the eyeshadows with Facestudio Lasting Fix Setting Spray and applied it to the cheeks and temples to create an illusion of a unified, melty finish down the sides of the face.  For the ultra-matte skin, the Maybelline Fit Me! Dewy and Smooth Foundation was set with Fit Me! Pressed Powder, giving the models an understated, soft appearance.

This glamour was finished with a light glaze of Color Sensational Vivid Hot Lacquer Lip Gloss in Tease and paired with a gorgeous new shade of Deborah Lippman nail polish, Jasmine Kiss – her latest collaboration with Jason Wu.

Although this lovely eyeshadow look might seem like it’s evocative of the spring and summer, it is actually pretty wearable in the fall when warm hues start to dominate and sunsets become more stunning. Paired with the chic all-black outfits, this burst of color is just what everyone needs to snap them out of the impending winter doldrums. There’s no need to fear the early evening darkness with this sunny makeup.

All eyes are on the clothes during New York Fashion Week, but true beauty lovers know that it’s the perfect place to find inspiration for makeup looks that range from everyday wearable styles to fantastical glam. The juxtaposition of Jason Wu’s feminine yet relatively muted clothing with this sunburst makeup makes it possible to imagine myriad ways in which these pieces could be styled. It heightens the effect of the already lovely pieces and unifies the themes in the collection as a whole.
