Twitter Reacts To Tarte's Shape Tape Foundation...And Is Not Amused

Twitter Reacts To Tarte's Shape Tape Foundation...And Is Not Amused

Tarte Cosmetics recently released the highly anticipated Shape Tape foundation to complement their Shape Tape concealer, which Allure has called a "cult-favorite. The concealer came out in 2016, so we've had to wait almost two years for the matching foundation, but unfortunately it didn't live up to everyone's expectations. Ok well, more specifically, women of color were disappointed because of the 15 available shades, that come in matte and hydrating formulas, only two of them are really suitable for brown women.

YouTube beauty influencers, like Jackie Aina and Alissa Ashley were not pleased. In Jackie's review, she says that “this brand just embodies the exact opposite of everything that I stand for…They don’t do anything that makes people feel included.” Regular consumers weren't pleased either and also began dragging Tarte all over the internet.

Tarte offered an "apology" (read: a lame excuse) in a Popsugar exclusive saying, "A rep from Tarte explained to POPSUGAR that even when Shape Tape Foundation was revealed, the new colors were already in the works. Tarte reps explained that it could take time to get the full range finished and flawless. 'We're always pushing ourselves and suppliers to work as quickly as possible,' our contact confirmed." Lame excuses as to why this happened didn't stop anyone from the expressing how they felt (and a PR social media slip up didn't help either). Here are 16 reactions to Tarte’s launch of the Shape Tape foundation.
